The Intersection of Faith and Culture
We are at an unprecedented time in history. Never has there been a generation closer to the end of the world than today. Global warming threatens the earth. Pollution is killing the oceans and our food sources. Half the world is starving, and all it would take to change the course of history is for people to stop consuming. But we can’t.
B.C.’s education system has opened its arms to Sexual Orientation and Gender Identification, or “SOGI”. But this progressive program aimed at celebrating diversity of sexuality and gender in public schools has raised concerns over what many consider undue and poorly substantiated indoctrination.
God isn’t waiting for us to master the art of being a Christian—not in the way that we conquered first grade math, said goodbye to our teachers, and could count to a hundred on our own. He’s not expecting for us to navigate the politics at work, without his help. He’s not hoping that we’ll grow our own supply of patience, and not need his.
Am I making a difference? Do they appreciate it? Am I doing a good job? Does anything I do matter? Truth is, we go through the season of parenting never really knowing the answers to any of these kinds of questions, because the answers aren’t with us. They’re with our children.
Justin Bieber’s Easter Instagram post should silence any doubters on the seriousness of his Christian faith. “Jesus has changed my life. Easter is not about a bunny, it’s a reminder that my Jesus died on the cross for my sins and then rose from the dead defeating death!” the singer wrote.
Everyone wants margin in their lives but few have the courage to give themselves such a thing. It takes courage to have space. It takes courage to do less. It takes courage to say no.
