It’s funny, right? And it speaks to inconvenient truths…that’s why it’s funny.
Like anything funny, the whole story it ain’t.

So yeah, I watched this video.
I laughed at it.
I wondered what would happen if the guy actually did pull the nail out of the chick’s head.
I wondered what reservoir of emotions, conflicted desires, and past damages would come rushing from the hole that nail is filling right now.
And I’m like, “Leave the nail in there, bro.”
Maybe she has pulled that nail out before, a whole bunch of times, and found that it only made things worse. Instead of headaches and snagged sweaters, maybe she had nightmares, deep unexamined fears, trouble keeping healthy boundaries. Maybe that nail is the only thing between her and a drinking problem. Maybe when she takes the nail out, thoughts of killing herself make their way in.
Just saying.
This, good-hearted, level-headed gentlemen everywhere, is why a lady wants to be listened to. She is trying to figure out what’s going on underneath the nail.
Dude. Maybe what she really needs is, for once, to fix her problems on her own, instead of waiting for a bigger stronger wiser person to do it for her. And talking it out with her man is her way of working through that. Maybe providing yet another quick, obvious fix would only make the problem worse.
You know how winning the lottery doesn’t solve a person’s money troubles? Maybe not every problem is as simple as it sounds.
In those cases, maybe the joke’s on you guys.
Can we laugh at that?

You know, where the guy’s like, “Here, pretty irrational female — let me perform this quick, obvious fix that your flighty nature has made you overlook,” and then finds himself knee-deep in psychological sewage.
Haha. Those crazy guys, thinking all problems have an obvious, one-step solution! Isn’t it amazing that anyone can be so irrational?
