Internships are unpaid. Interns should be able to commit 12 to 20 hours per week, on average. The exact dates of the internship will depend on applicant’s availability.
Role and responsibilities:
- Contribute to the conception and execution of various media projects including print, web, video, and audio
- Contribute to the design of printed materials, online post illustrations, in-house print & web ads, and the building the occasional advertiser’s print & web ads
- Contribute to social media
- Help out at concerts, festivals and other events as necessary
- Perform basic administrative duties such as phones, mailings, errands etc
Education and Experience:
Degree in Communication Design, Fine Arts or Film. Individuals with other educational backgrounds who can demonstrate excellent design and film editing skills may also apply for this role. Basic computing skills are also required.
Skills and Attributes:
- Fluent in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign
- Video and sound editing skills an asset
- Strong eye for graphic design, type, and film. Illustrative skills a plus
- Excellent communication skills and knowledge of basic grammar, punctuation, and spelling
- Interest in editorial design, current events, print and online media
- Ability to work under pressure and tight (and fluctuating) deadlines
