Toronto’s (perhaps even North America’s?) most interesting politician returned to City Hall on Monday, June 30 after being in a rehabilitation facility for two months. As everyone would expect, Rob Ford gave a speech full of apologies. While he acknowledged his mistakes, he also acknowledged that everyone makes mistakes. But he promised that he is now in control of his life, ready to go for another term in office.
Stripped of many of his powers as mayor and derided for making Toronto into a laughing stock, one could wonder why Rob Ford has even decided to come back. But as most people who have been following Rob Ford’s exploits know, his stubbornness has always come through. Rob Ford, once his own worst enemy, believes he has turned the corner. The real question is: can people actually trust him?
This jogger doesn’t think so.
