Christmas DIY: Glittered gift tags

After all the Christmas shopping, decorating, parties with work, family, and friends, you may suddenly realize that there’s less than two weeks left until Christmas! Time to get those hidden presents out of your closets and start wrapping. But how to make your gifts more personal while avoiding adding to the heaps of gift wrap headed straight for the landfill? Here’s an easy DIY that will sparkle under your brightly lit tree!

DIY Glittered Gift Tags

What you will need:

  • Kraft Paper (That big brown roll of paper)
  • Any cardstock paper
  • Reinforcements (optional)
  • Paintbrush (optional)
  • Glue
  • Extra fine glitter
  • Scissors/blade cutter
  • Hole puncher
  • Any sort of stamp (in this case we made one from an eraser, a wine cork, and the end of a pencil)
  • Yarn

Step 01:

Start by drawing out the shape of your tags to your desired size , then cut it out with a pair of scissors (in this case, I had a craft puncher specifically made for making tags). Use the hole puncher to create the opening for your tags.

Step 02:

Use the blade cutter to create a stamp out of the eraser. Be careful! (Feel free to skip this step and use a paintbrush instead to create your patterns)

Step 03:

Dab the eraser/stamper with a light amount of glue, and then stamp the tag. Before it dries, sprinkle glitter overtop making sure that all glue is covered. Tap off any excess glitter.

Step 04:

Continue! Make plenty of them! Make a variety of them! As you can see above, the polka dots were achieved by using the bottom of a pencil, and the larger circles were created with the wine cork.

Step 05:

While the tags dry, wrap your presents with kraft paper. Then tie on some yarn around the gift.

Step 06:

Simply write a personal note on your tags, then tie on to your gifts! If you’re feeling fancy, add a pompom or a bow to top it off. And you’re done!
